We recently interviewed Kendra Tyson , a children's librarian, and she recommended that parents and teachers go straight to publishers to find new children's books. She gave a few recommendations for publishers that specialize in multicultural children's literature. She also recommended using book review websites to vet books before purchasing. How do you choose new children's books? Do follow any authors or illustrators on social media?
This video from Brene Brown does a fantastic job showing what a difference it makes when you respond to a person with empathy rather than sympathy. I think this is really helpful when thinking about how to communicate with children during COVID-19 who may be dealing with big emotions. Would love to hear your thoughts!
